Playoff Information
Last Updated December 8, 2008
Playoffs for all Minnesota Flag Football League seasons consist of semi-finals and a championship game that take place on the same night. The top 4 teams in each division reach the playoffs and are seeded based on the logic below. At 7:00pm seed #1 plays seed #4, then at 8:00pm seed #2 plays seed #3. The winners of those semi-final games will compete for the championship at 9:00pm that same night.
Tie-breaking logic for determining Playoffs
To determine the seeding of teams with a similar record, the following process is used in this order:
1. Head-to-Head competition.
2. In case of 3-way or 4-way tie, record in games against tied teams
3. Greatest overal season point differential (total points scored minus points allowed)
4. Lowest points allowed
5. Flip of the coin
Note: If 3 teams are tied in a record and have a similar record amongst themselves, we would use the tie breaker of the point differential to determine the top seed of those 3 teams. Then to determine the second team of the three it would go back to use head-to-head competition.
